Who We Are
Ankole Demonstration Zoo is found in Nshungyezi Village, Rwakishakizi Ward, Opposite Nyakayojo Sub-County, Mbarara City South, 10 Kilometers, Mbarara Kabale road.
Ankole Demonstration Zoo was registered in 2018 with the main aim of promoting Wildlife Conservation Education and Tourism promotion in western Region. In 2019, a Memorandum of Understanding was signed between UWEC (Uganda Wildlife Conservation Education Centre) and ADZ (Ankole Demonstration Zoo) for promotion of Wildlife Education in Western Uganda.
We are Associate Members of ZKAU (Zoo Keepers Association of Uganda) and USSIA (Uganda Small Scale Industries Association with Silver Medals).
The zoo has a wide variety of species including Zebra, Impala, Uganda Kob, Bush Back, Crocodiles, Red Tailed Monkeys, Colombus Monkeys, Serval Cats, Tortoises, Turtles, Terrapins, Python, Cobra, Ground Squirrel, Pellicans, Famingoes, Crested Cranes, Peacocks, Parrots and Ostriches.
